Much of this work is aimed at helping developing countries and societies in transition to address significant challenges they may face in meeting the healthcare needs of their people.

•In order to support current activities, and to encourage the development of new initiatives, the DH has for the second year running made available a fund to cover incidental expenses of teams undertaking humanitarian projects and is working with the BMA International Committee and the RCN to allocate it. Applications to this fund may be made by any staff group within the NHS, with applications from multidisciplinary teams being particularly welcome. "
